Installing Filevue is quick and easy. Follow these step-by-step instructions to get Filevue up and running on your WordPress site in just a few minutes.

Requirements

Before installing Filevue, make sure your WordPress site meets these minimum requirements:

  • WordPress: 5.0 or higher
  • PHP: 7.4 or higher
  • MySQL: 5.6 or higher
Recommended: For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of WordPress with PHP 8.0+ on a modern hosting environment.

Installation Methods

There are three ways to install Filevue on your WordPress site:

Method 1: WordPress Plugin Directory (Recommended)

This is the easiest and most common method:

  2. Navigate to Plugins → Add New
  3. In the search box, type Filevue
  4. Find "Filevue - Secure Client Portal" in the search results
  5. Click Install Now
  6. Once installed, click Activate
Done! Filevue is now installed and activated. You should see a new "Filevue" menu item in your WordPress admin sidebar.

Method 2: Upload ZIP File

If you've downloaded the plugin ZIP file:

  1. Download the latest version from WordPress.org
  2. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard
  3. Navigate to Plugins → Add New
  4. Click Upload Plugin at the top of the page
  5. Click Choose File and select the filevue.zip file
  6. Click Install Now
  7. Once installed, click Activate Plugin

Method 3: FTP Upload

For advanced users who prefer FTP:

  2. Connect to your server via FTP
  3. Navigate to your WordPress installation's wp-content/plugins/ directory
  4. Upload the extracted filevue folder
  5. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard
  6. Navigate to Plugins
  7. Find Filevue in the list and click Activate

Post-Installation Setup

1. Create the Client Portal Page

After activating Filevue, you need to create a page for your client portal:

  1. Go to Pages → Add New
  2. Give your page a title (e.g., "Client Portal" or "Client Files")
  3. In the page content, add the shortcode: [filevue_client_files]
  4. Click Publish
  5. Note the page URL - this is where your clients will log in
Important: Make sure to use the [filevue_client_files] shortcode exactly as shown. This creates the client login form and file portal.

2. Configure Basic Settings (Optional)

Navigate to Filevue → Settings to customize your portal:

  • Portal Appearance: Customize colors and branding
  • Email Settings: Configure email notifications
  • File Settings: Set upload limits and allowed file types
