Quick Start Guide
Get your first client portal up and running in under 5 minutes. This guide will walk you through creating your first client, uploading files, and sharing access.

Step 1: Create Your First Client
- Navigate to Filevue → Clients in your WordPress admin
- Click the Add New button at the top
- Fill in the client information:
- Client Name: Your client's name (e.g., "John Smith" or "Acme Corp")
- Client ID: A unique identifier (e.g., "CLI-001" or "acme"). This is what they'll use to log in.
- Password: A secure password. Use letters, numbers, spaces, dots, hyphens, or underscores.
- Email (optional): Client's email address for notifications
- Description (optional): Internal notes about this client
- Click Save Client
Step 2: Create Folders
Organize your files into folders for better structure:
- Click on the client name to open the Edit Client page
- Scroll down to the Folder Management section
- In the "Folder Name" field, enter a name (e.g., "Invoices", "Contracts", "Reports")
- Optionally choose an icon and color for the folder
- Click Add Folder
- Repeat to create additional folders
Step 3: Upload Files
Now let's add some files to your folders:
- Still on the Edit Client page, scroll to File Upload
- Step 1 - Choose Folder: Select which folder to upload to
- Step 2 - Select Files: Click Choose Files and select one or more files
- Supported formats: PDF, Word, Excel, images (PNG, JPG, GIF), ZIP, RAR, and more
- Step 3 - Upload: Click the Upload button
Your files will be uploaded and appear in the Files table below.
Step 4: Share Portal Access
There are three ways to share the portal with your client:
Option 1: Send Email (Recommended)
- Make sure you've configured SMTP at Filevue → SMTP Settings
- Go back to Filevue → Clients
- Find your client in the list
- Click the Email button (envelope icon)
- A branded email with credentials and portal link will be sent automatically
Option 2: Manual Share
Share the following information with your client:
- Portal URL:
https://yoursite.com/client-portal/(or whatever you named the page) - Client ID: The ID you created (e.g., "CLI-001")
- Password: The password you set
Option 3: Preview First
Want to test before sharing? Click the Portal button (eye icon) next to the client to preview their view.
Step 5: Your Client Logs In
When your client visits the portal URL, they will:
- See a login form
- Enter their Client ID and Password
- Click Login
- Access their files organized in the folders you created
- Download files or view PDFs/images directly in the browser
